Hike #14: Versant nord St Victoire; Citadelle Leaders: Sharon, Chris Date: January 18th , 2022 |
This pretty hike starting at the Col Des Portes on the north side of the Sainte Victoire takes us up to the Citadelle (an Iron Age fort built 2 or 3 centuries BC). From there we will continue our hike on mainly large paths where we will enjoy panoramic views stretching beyond the Luberon to the Lure, Mont Ventoux and on the horizon the snow-covered peaks of the southern Alps. We will enjoy our picnic and Epiphany celebration with the Galettes de Roi and Vin Chaud at the ruined hamlet of Lambuisse before returning to the Col Des Portes
Lunch: Picnic plus Galette des Roi and Vin Chaud to share (lunch time will be longer than usual) Dogs: Ok (with leads). Difficulty: 5 Length: 4 hours + lunch + galette/vin chaud Driving Directions: See below
Meeting point: Directly at the start of the hike at 10 am
Directions: From Aix-en-Provence take the D10 direction Vauvenargues. A few kilometres after Vauvenargues, when the road forks, stay right on the D10 towards the Col des Portes. The road climbs steadily over the Col des Claps and then up to the Col des Portes. After the Col you will find a large car park on the left-hand side of the road “parking Col des Portes” near the information boards. (It is the first car park on the left after you pass the Col). Park here.
GPS: 43°33'02.6"N 5°40'21.7"E 43.550713, 5.672698 We need volunteers to bring galettes des Roi and vin chaud to share. Thank you in advance
