Hike #23: Chapelle St Propace

Belle randonnée avec des vues panoramiques sur le Var et la St Baume. Nous monterons jusqu’à la chapelle St Probace et gagnerons les gorges du Caramy par un sentier pentu et rocailleux. Ensuite nous longerons une rivière rafraichissante où nous déjeunerons et si le temps le permet nous pourrons nous y baigner.

 

The hike is a beautiful scenic tour. We will climb up to the chapel St Probace where you will be rewarded by panoramic views of the Var region. We will then descend a relatively steep (+ rather slippery) path to the gorges where we will be walking alongside a refreshing river and will rest there for a peaceful and relaxing picnic (well, we hope so!).

 

Lunch:      Bring a picnic lunch.

Dogs:        OK.

Meeting point: Directly at the start of the hike at 10:00 am. Allow a good 1 hours drive from Aix.

Directions: From Aix-en-Provence take the A 8 direction Nice. Exit n°34 St-Maximin. Turn right on the N 7 direction Brignoles. Go straight on ignoring first left hand turning marked Tourves. Continue on DN7 take next exit marked Tourves to a small roundabout. Take immediate first exit marked “la Bastide de la Roquette” passing in front of “la Provence Immobilier”. Continue for approx 1km along narrow road up to the “stade” (you will be driving in the opposite direction to main road traffic). At the “stade” turn sharp left towards “la Bastide de la Roquette” and drive for about 3 kms until an olive grove on the right. Park in large car park on the right hand side.
