Hike #27: St Julien Leaders: Sharon, Chris Date: May 17th , 2022 |

A very pretty hike starting at the Plage de St Julien, following an ancient canal and the banks and beaches along the Lac d’Esparron. We then turn inland up into the forest before descending back towards the lake to enjoy our picnic lunch and hopefully a swim in the clear waters before returning following the lakeside path.
Une très jolie randonnée au départ de la plage St Julien, longeant un ancien canal ainsi que les berges et plages du lac d’Esparon. Nous emprunterons ensuite un chemin forestier avant de redescendre vers le lac pour le déjeuner et peut-être un bain dans les eaux claires avant de rejoindre le parking par le bord du lac.
Level: 5 Length: 3 ¼ hours plus lunch and swim Dogs: OK Meeting point: 10.15am at start of hike (allow well over a 1 hour drive from Aix)
Directions: Take the A51 motorway to exit 17 marked Vinon sur Verdon/ Cadarache. Follow the road to Vinon. Just after the centre of Vinon turn right onto D69 Route de St-Julien. After approx. 15km turn left onto chemin d’Aurabelle then join the D8 Route de St-Pierre. At the Verdon bridge take the Route du Lac (DO NOT cross the bridge). Continue on the Route du Lac for approx. 7km until you reach the end of the road and the parking Plage de St-Julien.
(NOTE: The start of this hike is on the opposite side of the lake to the village of Esparron-de-Verdon and cannot be reached if you go to the village!)
