Hike #20: Village Puyloubier, St Victoire

Une randonnée aller-retour depuis le joli village de Puyloubier accroché au flanc sud du massif de la Sainte Victoire à 350 m d’altitude. Le sentier démarre en haut du village par une montée assez raide et longue sur un sentier caillouteux jusqu’à l’oratoire de Malivert. Nous continuons à suivre le balisage du GR9 à travers la forêt et les crêtes jusqu’au Pic des Mouches, point culminant de la montagne Sainte Victoire à 1011 m. 
Il y a une belle table d’orientation et nous pourrons profiter d’une vue splendide sur les crêtes ondulantes du massif, La Sainte Baume, les montagnes enneigées des Alpes et le Mont Ventoux.
L’heure du pique-nique est enfin arrivée !!!

 

A ‘there and back’ hike from the pretty village of Puyloubier which is situated on the southern side of the Sainte Victoire mountain at a height of 350m. The hike starts at the top of the village with quite a steep and long climb along a rocky path up to the ‘oratoire de Malivert’. From there, we will continue to follow the GR9 markings taking us through a forest and then up and along the ridge to the ‘Pic des Mouches’, the highest point on the Sainte Victoire at 1011m.

There is a pretty orientation table where we will enjoy fantastic panoramic views over the rolling surrounding mountain ranges including the Sainte Baume to the south and the snowy peaks of the Alps and the Mont Ventoux northwards.

Meeting point: Directly at the start of the hike at 10 am

 

Directions: From Aix, take the A8 towards Nice and exit at junction 32 towards Trets/Fuveau. At the roundabout, take the D7N towards Frejus/St. Maximin/Rousset. Continue for several km’s passing Chateauneuf le rouge, Les Bannettes and Rousset. Turn left on the D57B towards Puyloubier. When in the village, turn right onto Chemin des Vertus and then left and park in carpark at the Salle des Vertus (Salle de Spectacle).
