Hike #07: Col du Marseillais Leaders: Sharon, Chris Date: December 3rd, 2024 |

A steady climb along wooded paths opens up onto the flanks and then the summit of the Mont de Marseillais where we will be rewarded with exceptional panoramic views of the region including the Sainte Victoire, the Garlaban, Sainte Baume, the Mediterranean Sea and in the distance, the Southern Alps. We will then partially descend via a dry river bed and return to the Col de Marseillais where we will enjoy our picnic lunch with stunning views. The return is a descent via rocky paths through the woods. Hiking poles are highly recommended as are long trousers and long-sleeved shirts/jackets!
En passant par un sentier boisé nous entamons une longue montée jusqu’au sommet du Mont du Marseillais où nous serons récompensés par une vue panoramique sur la Ste Victoire, le Garlaban, la Ste Baume, la Méditerranée et au loin les Alpes du Sud. Ensuite nous redescendrons en empruntant un lit de torrent à sec puis nous retournerons au col du Marseillais pour faire la pause pique-nique tout en profitant d’une belle vue. Le retour s’effectue à travers les bois par un chemin caillouteux parfois envahi par la végétation. Nous vous conseillons de prendre vos bâtons de marche et de vous habiller en pantalon et t-shirt à manches longues!
