Hike #02: Les 2 trous, Glanum Leaders: Sharon, Chris Date: October 01st, 2024 |

A magnificent hike starting at Les Antiques (near St Remy). We will gradually climb up through the Vallon de Saint Clerg passing by the Roman remains of the village Glanum. Along the route we will discover different types of trees typical to the region. We will visit ‘les 2 trous’ and then go onto La Caume where we will be rewarded with panoramic views and our picnic lunch. If time permits, we can enjoy a coffee in the pretty town of St Remy.
Cette balade permet de découvrir un itinéraire sur un bon chemin (quelques passages caillouteux), d’admirer en le surplombant le site archéologique de Glanum. Nous atteindrons le point culminant des Alpilles sur le plateau de la Caume avec une très belle vue panoramique, nous admirerons Saint Rémy à travers deux grands trous que l’érosion a creusé dans une paroi rocheuse calcaire.

GPS : 43°46'33.8"N 4°49'48.6"E (43.776036, 4.830200)Directions From Aix en Provence, take N7 and pass through St Cannat, Lambesc and Senas. At Plan d’Orgon, turn left on D99 towards St Remy. Go into the centre of town and follow the peripherique around the centre until you see the sign Les Baux de Provence/Les Antiques. Take this road out of the town for about 1km and then park in signed carpark on right hand side near Roman remains. |
